TECHNOLOGY ADVANCES AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO PATIENT-CENTRIC HEALTHCARE

1.3D printing.

3D printing is a type of art where professionals can use radiology equipment to edit a patient's anatomy digitally and then construct a new physical version of the patient. As a result of their work, physician-artists bring new skill sets to hospitals, such as computer-aided design. Recent advances of this technology in healthcare have led to lighter, stronger, and safer products, reduced lead times, and lower costs.

Furthermore, 3D printing is used to create new surgical cutting and drill guides, prosthetics, and patient-specific replicas of bones, organs, and blood vessels.

A video is attached in which Dr. O discusses dental implants and how this new 3D technology is safer, healthier, and more appealing than older implant placement techniques.

2. Virtual Reality

The use of immersive, computer-generated technology in medicine, known as therapeutic virtual reality (VR), is rapidly gaining traction. This revolutionary technology brings a wide range of solutions to the healthcare sector especially when it comes to patient rehabilitation and physical therapy.

In some hospitals, your doctor can already prescribe a visit to a Virtual Reality world to alleviate pain or anxiety or to explain a complex medical procedure or condition.

Additionally, it also brings rehabilitation exercises into the virtual realm and turns patients’ therapy sessions into a gamified experience that motivates users to strive for better results via virtual goals and achievements.

3. Blockchain.

Blockchain is a new technology that is being used to develop innovative solutions in a variety of industries, including healthcare. In the healthcare system, a Blockchain network is used to store and exchange patient data between hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, pharmacy firms, and physicians.

In the medical field, blockchain applications can accurately identify severe and even dangerous errors. As a result, it has the potential to improve the performance, security, and transparency of medical data sharing in the health care system. This technology assists medical institutions in gaining insight and improving the analysis of medical records.
